About the International Anti-Corruption Court
The International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC) will fill the crucial enforcement gap in the international framework for combatting grand corruption.
The IACC will strengthen the enforcement of relevant laws to punish and deter crimes of grand corruption committed by public officials, bribe payers, money launderers, and their co-conspirators, while also addressing the equitable use of recovered illicit assets. The 191 parties to the UN Convention Against Corruption are required to criminalise corrupt acts, and yet national leaderships can create impunity for grand corruption – the high-level abuse of public power for personal gain – in the countries that they rule.
Roadmap to the IACCourt

Declaration
Over 300 world leaders, including 50+ former presidents and prime ministers and 30+ Nobel laureates, have signed the 2021 Declaration supporting the IACCourt.

Civil Society Coalition
We have been organising a growing group of civil society organisations since July 2021. Many of these are based in Africa. We are building a structure to coordinate global outreach with regional civil society support.

Treaty Drafting Expert Group
Close to 100 international lawyers, judges, scholars, and anticorruption experts have been working together since March 2024 to develop the core principles and draft the treaty to establish the IACCourt.

Broad & Inclusive Consultation
After the IACCourt treaty draft is finalised, we will collaborate with our partners to organise a series of virtual consultations in which we will present the draft and receive feedback from interested civil society and governments around the world.

Negotiation & Adoption
Governments will need to negotiate and sign a treaty establishing the IACCourt. During this phase, the campaign for the IACCourt will monitor negotiations and work to ensure that civil society has a voice in the negotiations.

Ratification and Beyond
After the IACCourt treaty is signed, the campaign will continue with global outreach to secure ratification and monitor the implementation of the Court once it comes into force.
Support for the IACC
More than 300 world leaders — including former Heads of State and Government, Nobel laureates, high court judges, cabinet ministers, and representatives of civil society, business, and faith communities — from over 80 countries have called for the creation of the IACC.
